Data for: Photoperiod and light quality modulate flowering progression and ornamental traits in Dahlia pinnata ‘Cafe au Lait’
Description
This dataset supports the manuscript entitled “Effects of photoperiod and light quality on flowering progression and ornamental quality of Dahlia pinnata ‘Cafe au Lait’”. The dataset includes supplementary data for photoperiod and light-quality experiments in dahlia, including vegetative growth traits, days to flowering, floral ornamental traits, sugar contents, endogenous hormone levels, Pearson correlation analyses, RNA-seq summary statistics, candidate gene screening information and qRT-PCR raw Ct values for DpELF3. The photoperiod experiment included seven treatments: 8 h light/16 h dark, 9 h light/15 h dark, 10 h light/14 h dark, 11 h light/13 h dark, 12 h light/12 h dark, 13 h light/11 h dark and 14 h light/10 h dark. The light-quality experiment included six treatments: white light, 1R:1B, 3R:1B, 5R:1B, red light alone and blue light alone. Morphological and floral traits include plant height, stem diameter, days to flowering, number of flower buds, flower diameter, ray floret number and tubular floret number. Physiological indices include soluble sugar, sucrose, abscisic acid, cytokinin and gibberellin A3 contents at different developmental stages. The RNA-seq-related data summarize comparative transcriptome analysis between vegetative shoot apex and reproductive shoot apex samples, and the qRT-PCR data provide expression validation of the photoperiod-responsive candidate gene DpELF3. These data can be used to verify the statistical results, supplementary tables and main conclusions reported in the associated manuscript.
