Dataset Supporting the Serum Proteomic Characterization of Canine Pyometra
Description
Study question: Can canine pyometra alter the serum proteomic profile, and are these changes associated with disease severity? The data presented reflect the serum proteomic profile of bitches distributed into three groups: control, pyometra, and severe pyometra, as defined according to clinical and laboratory criteria, including the presence of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and serum creatinine concentration. Blood samples were collected after clinical evaluation, and serum was obtained by centrifugation and stored at −80 °C until analysis. For proteomic analysis, serum samples were subjected to albumin depletion, followed by protein quantification, SDS-PAGE, in-gel tryptic digestion, and individual analysis by LC–MS/MS using a shotgun proteomics approach. The dataset is organized into folders corresponding to the experimental groups and contains the proteins identified and quantified for each biological sample. For each individual sample, an Excel spreadsheet provides the proteomic data, allowing the comparison of serum protein abundance among control, pyometra, and severe pyometra groups.
