Indonesian academic employee turnover intention
Description
The dataset explores factors impacting employee turnover intention (TOI) at an Indonesian private university. It includes a variety of demographic and work-related factors if employees related to TOI. The variables gathered in the dataset includes employees' age, gender, work tenure, education level, and job position. In addition, the dataset deals with average working hours of employees ' each week with their monthly expenditure disclosed. The dataset further analyzes job related factors covering job satisfaction with workload, compensation, peer relationship or kinship, career opportunities, and overall job satisfaction. Other significant work or job related factors include employees' assessment of their work-life balance, meaningful work , and family support level. It also looks into job related issues of mental wellness and anxiety level of employees. Finally, the dataset includes the key outcome or target variable: turnover intention (TOI), which indicates whether or not an employee has plans to leave their current position. This makes the dataset particularly valuable for studying the relationships between demographic and work related factors along with the employee turnover intention (TOI) issue. Data Collection: An ethical exemption from the Institutional Review Board (IRB reference number 19.12.4/UN32.14/PB/2024) was obtained to collect anonymous data at Indonesian private universities . The survey was accomplished by collecting responses on various factors including demographic factors (age, gender, education, etc.), work related factors (job position, work tenure, working hours, job satisfaction ,workload, compensation, relationships with peers), and target variable such as turnover intentions (TOI). The survey was designed to capture both qualitative and quantitative data through Likert scale questions and multiple-choice answers. Survey Method: The survey was conducted electronically with strict anonymity. Employees were informed of the purpose of the study, and their consent was obtained before collecting the data. Respondents were allowed to withdraw or pause their responses at any time during data collection. Respondents were asked to rate their satisfaction and well-being across multiple dimensions (e.g., workload, compensation, career opportunities) on a 5-point Likert scale. Sampling: Respondents include various professionals from Indonesian private university including lecturers, associate professors ,professors. Participants were selected using purposive sampling to ensure a diverse response from participants of different job positions. Data Processing: The responses were cleaned and organized into columns representing various demographic and work related variables such as "Age," "Gender," "Work Tenure," "Job Position," "Satisfaction with Workload," "Mental Well-Being," and "Turnover Intention (TOI)." Invalid or incomplete responses were removed to ensure data integrity. Variables and Scales: The dataset includes multiple variables: Demographic data (Age, Gender, Education) Work-related variables (Job Position, Work Tenure, Working Hours, workload, compensation, peer relationships, career opportunities, job profession, work-life balance, and meaningfulness of work) Satisfaction ratings on a scale of 1-5 for workload, compensation, peer relationships, career opportunities, job profession, work-life balance, and meaningfulness of work Binary variable was used for TOI (1 = Intention to leave , 0 = no intention to leave ). Software and Tools: The dataset can be analyzed using common statistical tools such as SPSS, R, or Python (e.g., Pandas library for data manipulation). Correlation analysis with data visualization was performed to study the relationship or association among different factors and turnover intention (TOI). Reproducibility: For reproducing dataset, a similar survey can be applied in academic settings by following the same questionnaire structure and sampling method. Demographic and work related factors should be included to reproduce the data.
