Dominant-negative TP53 mutations potentiated by the HSF1-regulated proteostasis network

Description

A549cHSF1 cells stably expressing GFP (to visualize transduction efficiency), wild-type p53, and p53V173Y were treated with either vehicle, dox to activate HSF1, or STA-9090 to inhibit HSP90. Confocal images of the cells stained for p53 and nuclear stain DAPI reveal that p53 aggregation in the nucleus under basal conditions was cleared by activation of HSF1 while aggregation of p53 found in the nucleus was exacer-bated with HSP90 inhibition.
