Description

This dataset contains detailed production and process-related variables recorded from industrial operations involving injection molding and blow molding techniques used in the transformation of plastic materials. The objective is to facilitate the analysis of production performance, material efficiency, process control, and product quality. Key Features Includes more than 30 variables spanning temporal data, machine parameters, material consumption, and product performance. Records unit weights, production requirements, defect quantities, and operational timings such as cycle and cooling durations. Enables advanced applications such as statistical process control, predictive analytics, and optimization of manufacturing performance.

Steps to reproduce

Steps to Reproduce Data Collection Operational Context Data were collected from a facility operating dedicated injection and blow molding machines. Each dataset entry corresponds to a unique production order, identified by date, machine, shift, and product. Methods and Instruments Measurements were obtained using programmable logic controllers (PLCs), digital scales, and velocity sensors. An integrated Manufacturing Execution System (MES) was used for automatic logging of machine parameters. Manual input via spreadsheets captured additional variables not directly interfaced with MES. Measurement Protocols For each production run, the following were recorded: Registration date, machine ID, shift number, product name and ID Target production quantity, unit weight, rejected and good units Material inputs: polyethylene, polypropylene, masterbatch Injection and holding pressure (in bar), melt and mold temperatures (in °C) Cycle time, cooling time, ejection time, extrusion time Injection and blowing velocity, air flow rate Flash waste estimation resulting from excess material leakage at mold closure lines Number of mold cavities and total production time Derived Calculations Metrics computed from raw data include: Percentage of flash waste, defective units, and reprocessed material Machine performance per mold cavity Ratio of effective production time versus downtime Throughput and material efficiency indicators
