Description

This dataset provides the computational archive supporting the manuscript “Apparent nonlinear gains in clearance-constrained tuned mass dampers: search-budget convergence and mechanism attribution.” It contains the structural-model inputs, machine-readable optimization and response results, seed-level and convergence data, numerical-domain and mechanism-attribution checks, reproduction scripts, environment specifications, and metadata required to regenerate the principal reported tables and summary outputs. The studied device is a fixed-hardware prestressed tension-only inclined-element nonlinear tuned mass damper (ISN-TMD). The earlier internal project name “VG-TMD” is retained only in clearly identified legacy-baseline files and does not imply geometry variation during a response calculation. A lightweight reproduction workflow is provided to regenerate the principal reported results directly from the archived numerical outputs, together with the full campaign scripts used for the optimization and verification studies. Original third-party FEMA P695/PEER ground-motion records are not redistributed. The archive instead provides record identifiers, provenance, scaling metadata, checksums where applicable, and acquisition instructions so that authorized users can reacquire the records from the documented upstream sources. The archive is intended to support computational reproducibility, numerical verification, and mechanism attribution; it does not constitute physical experimental validation.

Steps to reproduce

Extract the Version 2 reproducibility archive and install the Python dependencies listed in requirements.txt, or use the supplied environment.yml. Run python code/preflight.py to verify the required files, paths, and imports. Then run python code/reproduce_from_outputs.py --verify to regenerate the principal reported tables and summary output from the archived numerical results and verify them against the stored reference values. The full optimization and verification campaign scripts are also included for advanced reproduction. Third-party FEMA P695/PEER ground-motion records are not redistributed; record identifiers, provenance, scaling metadata, and acquisition instructions are provided in the archive for authorized reacquisition from the documented upstream sources.
