Complexes based on isothiocyanates (ITCs) (allyl isothiocyanate (AITC), benzyl isothiocyanate (BITC) and 2-phenylethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC)) and clay carriers (montmorillonite (MMT) and bentonite) were prepared and studied. Bentonite-based complexes were chosen for the further in vitro ITC release study. Adsorption of ITCs into clay layers allowed to prolong their release, preventing early evaporation and degradation, which was confirmed in the experiments with release into dodecane and the soil. Moreover, encapsulation allows to reduce the negative effect on the soil microflora, which is important for use in agriculture as a nematicidal preparation.
