Description

Si the most common impurity in commercial pure Al and was regarded as harmful to the electrical conductivity. Evaluating the role of 0.10%Si is valuable for the development of Al-Zr heat resistance alloys for overhead transmission line. In this paper, accelerated aging kinetics, greatly increased aging hardening, improved electrical conductivity was found after 0.10%Si addition into the Al-0.25Zr-0.03Y alloy. Aging precipitates with small size, tripled number density and comparative coarsening resistance was revealed.
