Description

New particle formation is an important source of atmospheric ultrafine particles and strongly affects aerosol number concentrations. However, most NPF studies rely on surface observations, and its vertical development within the urban boundary layer remains poorly understood. Here, we investigated the vertical characteristics of NPF at the 356 m Shenzhen Meteorological Gradient Tower using coordinated particle, meteorological, chemical, and turbulence measurements during two intensive observation periods in 2023.
