Description

Two-component magnetic field data recorded at the high latitude receiving station Kannuslehto operated by the Sodankyla Geophysical Observatory in Finland (67.7°N, 26.3°E). The dataset consists of 6 files, each of them contains the 1-hour long continuous record of magnetic field fluctuations measured by two orthogonal magnetic loops. The data originates from January 3, 2017 06:00-11:00 UTC.

Files

Steps to reproduce

The data file is organized in 8-byte blocks, which contain 2x32 bit little-endian integers for two horizontal magnetic field components. Each 32 bit integer contains at its most significant end 8 auxiliary bits followed by a 24-bit magnetic field sample with a quantization step of 100 aT. Both magnetic field components are sampled synchronously with a sampling frequency of 78.125 kHz. The first (most significant) auxiliary bit contains PPS pulses to accurately timestamp the data by it leading edge, the second auxiliary bit is set to 1 for the West-East component and to 0 for the North-South component.
