Ontological Interpretation of Process in the Quantum Spacetime Flow Cosmology
Description
Set against the backdrop of contemporary physics, this paper re-examines the philosophical stance of process ontology. Starting from the inherent limitations of substance ontology in explaining the arrow of time and the origin of change, it takes 'becoming' (or 'prior to being') as the point of departure for its inquiry. Drawing on the process philosophies of Whitehead and Bergson, this study revises their theories from a physicalist perspective. It introduces 'refresh'—defined as the event of state transition that transforms potentiality into actuality—as the fundamental concept for understanding becoming, and reinterprets time as the inherent rhythm of processes. Building on this foundation, the paper applies the aforementioned views to cosmological interpretations, establishing an analytical framework of triphasic metabolism to explore the dynamic transformations among three process modes: energy, matter, and spacetime. It interprets gravitational phenomena as the elastic response of the spacetime medium and provides process-philosophy-based explanations for cosmological topics such as dark energy, dark matter, and black holes. Furthermore, this research explores consciousness as a complex system, examining how it statistically enters and internalizes the flow of the refresh process within a constraint field formed by micro-level randomness and macro-level regularities, as well as the possible scope of free will. This paper attempts to construct a philosophical narrative consistent with modern science, rather than replacing any physical theory. Its value lies in establishing a coherent and accessible conceptual framework for fundamental concepts such as time, relations, and consciousness, inviting readers to reflect on the position of humanity in the universe and the meaning of existence. This updated document includes the full text in Chinese along with its corresponding English translation. This paper does not attempt to replace physical calculations; rather, it aims to provide a coherent, process-centered philosophical interpretation for contemporary physics (e.g., the arrow of time, dark energy, and dark matter). It explores the cyclic evolution of the universe and the place of consciousness within it. It is important to clarify that this paper is positioned as a preliminary framework construction of a cosmological worldview.
