Description

The Foot Function Index (FFI) is a self-reported questionnaire used to assess foot pain, disability, and functional limitations in individuals with plantar fasciitis. It consists of 23 items divided into three domains: Pain, Disability, and Functional Limitation. Since Hindi is widely spoken in India, translating, validating, and assessing the reliability of the FFI in Hindi is essential. A validated and reliable Hindi version will help individuals accurately report their symptoms, leading to better diagnosis and treatment. This will enhance patient care and improve the management of plantar fasciitis in Hindi-speaking populations.

Steps to reproduce

The translation and validation of the Foot Function Index (FFI) into Hindi will follow a structured process to ensure accuracy and reliability. First, formal permission will be obtained from the original developer. Then, forward translation will be done by a medical expert and a Hindi language specialist, followed by synthesis into a single refined version. A backward translation by bilingual experts will ensure consistency with the original FFI. Pretesting on 30 patients with plantar fasciitis will assess clarity and cultural relevance, followed by expert validation by 10 specialists. Finally, reliability testing with 51 patients will confirm test-retest reliability and internal consistency. This process ensures the Hindi-translated FFI is a valid and reliable tool for assessing foot function in Hindi-speaking individuals.
