Description

This database accompanies the article, "Tracking an Eastern Mediterranean semi-arid ecotone through integration of terrestrial and atmospheric earth observation data (2000-2024)" in review at Science of the Total Environment journal. The database will enable the user to work with data from: (1) MODIS Atmospheric Water Vapor Reserve (AWVR) (2000-2024); (2) AgERA5 Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD) (2000-2024); (3) Landsat 8/9 (2014-2024); and (4) Israel Meteorological Service (2010-2024). The database is developed for the Judean foothill region of Israel in the Ceratonieto-Pistacietum lentisci typicum judaicum (CPLTA-J) vegetation sub-association. The aim was to develop an Earth observation method that monitored Mediterranean shrublands relative to climate change and Subtropical High (SH) migration. Open the .pdf file, "Manspeizer-Karnieli_2026_Ecotone_Climate_Mediterranean_INSTRUCTIONS" for instructions to use the original data sets (included). Manspeizer-Karnieli_2026_Ecotone_Climate_Mediterranean_DATA-LIST.pdf", and the Excel workbooks, "Manspeizer-Karnieli_2026_Ecotone_Climate_Mediterranean.xlsx" and "Manspeizer-Karnieli_2026_TCT_Monthly_2014-2024.xlsx" are also included for moreinformatiomn and as part of the data exercise.
