Description

A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted following the guidelines of the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) methodology to ensure transparency and comprehensiveness. The study protocol was registered in the PROSPERO platform, ensuring standardization and replicability of the employed methodology. Observational studies (case-control, prospective and retrospective cohort studies, cross-sectional studies) investigating the association between the oral microbiota and the risk of dementia in older adults were included.
