Database of the article "It’s Not You, It’s My (Context): A Multilevel Analysis of Social Acceptability of Renewable Energy in the European Union"

This dataset was created for the article "It's Not You, It's My (Context): A Multilevel Analysis of Social Acceptability of Renewable Energy in the European Union", which examines how individual characteristics and regional structural conditions jointly shape public support for renewable energy across the European Union. Only variables relevant for the analyses in the article are included. The description of the variables, as well as their descriptive statistics, is included in the data section of the aforementioned article. The dataset combines: - Individual-level survey data from Eurobarometer 91.4 (27,438 respondents). Use and publication of these data have been granted with explicit permission from GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. - Regional-level indicators for 247 NUTS-2 regions across the EU, including demographic, economic, innovation, and climatic variables. These were compiled from Eurostat and integrated to match individual-level survey responses. The resulting multilevel dataset enables empirical analyses of how micro-level (individual) and macro-level (regional) factors interact to shape renewable energy acceptance, supporting robust multilevel modeling and cross-regional comparisons.
