The survey covers the entire country of Burkina Faso, which has 349 communes grouped into 45 provinces and 13 regions. The quota of villages per province was 6. At the village level, 8 households were surveyed per village during the survey. The number of households surveyed was 2,160.

Steps to reproduce

The Laboratory of Quantitative Analysis Applied to Development–Sahel (LAQAD-S) regularly conducts surveys on the living conditions of agricultural households in Burkina Faso as part of the National Land Management Program (PNGT). The survey covers the entire country, which has 349 communes grouped into 45 provinces and 13 regions. The quota of villages per province was 6. At the village level, 8 households were surveyed per village during the survey. The number of households surveyed was 2,160. The information collected includes data on household demographic characteristics, the types of innovations adopted, the crops grown by households, and soil-related characteristics. Regarding the types of innovation, agroecological techniques are of interest. The choice of crops is made based on their representativeness at the national level. Households that do not produce at least one of the selected crops are excluded from the database. The data collected in 2017 are used for this analysis. After processing the data, a sample of 1,981 households is retained.
