Data obtained from field experiments with 7 crop species, planted in alternate rows (ROW), diagonal rows (DIAG), and semi-random (SRAN) planting designs in 2019, and the same species planted in ROW and in random (RAN) planting designs. Unlike all previously published experimental data, these data pertain to the first experiments with 7 crops in replicated polycultutures, in different planting designs. Land Equivalent Ratio (LER) and Relative interaction index (RII) were calculated for each cropping pattern.

Steps to reproduce
Replicated plots were planted to 7 crop combinations and monocultures of each of the 7 crops in 8 farmer fields in two villages of Rayagada district of Odisha State, India.
