The dataset is about the effectiveness of the available disaster support systems for market fire victims in Ghana. It provides data on the proportion of victims securing support from institutional and non-institutional sources, the types of support, duration for the support to be provided, and the effectiveness of the support towards their recovery

Steps to reproduce

The data was gathered through a primary data collection exercise in three major markets in Ghana. Both questionnaire and interview guide were used as the instruments to gather the data. All institutional protocol was followed before the data collection exercise. Prior consent was obtained from the respondents regarding their willingness to participate in the study before engaging them in the exercise. Information sheets and consent forms were issued to the respondents prior to their participation in the data collection. The research team members, in the presence of witnesses, explained the information sheet and consent form to participants who could not read and understand. The explanation was done in the local language they were comfortable with. After appreciating the content of the information sheet and consent form, the respondents were asked to append their signatures to attest to their free participation in the data collection. The researcher also upheld anonymity, confidentiality and ethical standards in social science research.
