We performed a detail anatomical comparative study concerning three key clades of Holarctic mammals (Gomphotheriidae, Tayassuidae, Camelidae and Equidae) in the Pliocene of north-western Argentina. These records constitute the first evidence of these Holartic clades and allow to calibrated the early stages of the Great American Biotic Interchange. The methodology includes anatomical studies performed with comparison with fossil material located in public institutions, in addition to a detailed geological and stratigraphic, including absolute dating and palaeomagnetic studies
