Description
This dataset contains official mortality records from Ecuador for the year 2024, based on the Statistical Registry of General Deaths produced by the National Institute of Statistics and Census of Ecuador, INEC. The database includes 88,713 death records and 45 variables related to demographic, geographic, temporal, and cause-of-death information. The dataset includes variables such as province, canton and parish of registration; year, month, day and date of registration; nationality; sex; date of birth; date of death; age at death; province of habitual residence; area of residence; marital status; educational level; literacy; ethnicity; place of occurrence of death; province, canton and parish of death; area of death; certifier of death; maternal mortality-related variables; accidental or violent death characteristics; autopsy information; and underlying cause of death according to ICD-10 classifications. It also includes grouped mortality categories such as short lists and condensed cause-of-death classifications. This dataset may be useful for epidemiological, demographic, public health, social inequality, territorial, and mortality trend analyses. It allows researchers to examine mortality patterns in Ecuador by sex, age, ethnicity, education, province, area of residence, place of death, and underlying cause of death. Esta base de datos contiene registros oficiales de mortalidad de Ecuador correspondientes al año 2024, con base en el Registro Estadístico de Defunciones Generales elaborado por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos del Ecuador, INEC.
