CAMS-BD: Hourly Air Quality and Meteorological Measurements Dataset

Description

This dataset provides comprehensive hourly ambient air quality and meteorological observations collected from the Continuous Air Monitoring Stations (CAMS) operated by the Department of Environment (DoE), Bangladesh, spanning November 2012 to January 2025. It is distributed across four Microsoft Excel files covering the periods 2012–2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, and contains more than 1.37 million exported records from 15–16 monitoring stations located throughout Bangladesh. The dataset includes hourly measurements of major atmospheric pollutants, including SO₂, NO, NO₂, NOX, CO, O₃, PM₂.₅, and PM₁₀, together with co-located meteorological variables such as wind speed, wind direction, temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, barometric pressure, rainfall, and vertical wind speed. Station names, column order, and the availability of certain variables differ slightly between yearly files due to changes in the original monitoring system, and these differences are documented in detail. The data are provided in their original exported form from the CAMS reporting system and therefore retain several source-specific formatting characteristics, including embedded header and unit rows within station blocks, minor inconsistencies in station naming and unit labels, variations in column ordering, partial-year records for selected stations, and varying degrees of missing observations resulting from routine monitoring downtime and instrument maintenance. Detailed documentation accompanies the dataset describing all known data quality issues, including a confirmed Solar Radiation–Barometric Pressure column swap for the Savar station in the 2012–2021 file, missing date values for several stations in the same file, annual changes in station coverage, and recommendations for data preprocessing before analysis.
