Quantitative data on farm-scale feed gaps and forage diversity on smallholder mixed crop-livestock farms in Ethiopia
Description
This dataset was compiled from field measurements, farmer and key informant interviews in Kucha district (representative of the highland crop-livestock farming systems of southern Ethiopia) during the 2021/2022 agricultural season. The analysis was based on a case study involving farms with varying resource endowments. Data variables provided include farm-level feed and nutrient balance, feed gaps and diversity of forage resources grown by the study farmers. The dataset also includes relative contribution (%age share) of various feed resources to total farm forage supply. It consists an excel file in raw format. The data provide actionable insights for extension officers, and researchers seeking to develop site/context-specific forage option in Ethiopian highlands.
