FIT-HF was a randomized, controlled, single-center pilot trial conducted in the primary care setting of an academic health system. Eligible participants were aged 30-79 years, free of prevalent cardiovascular disease (including coronary artery disease, stroke, peripheral artery disease, atrial fibrillation, and heart failure), and had an estimated 10-year risk of incident heart failure of at least 5% based on the previously validated Pooled Cohort Equations to Prevent Heart Failure (PCP-HF) risk calculator.
