Description

This dataset provides a harmonized, four-table compilation of the National Bank of Ukraine / USAID 2021 financial literacy study for the adult population: (1) the OECD/INFE financial literacy index and its knowledge/behavior/attitude components, broken down by gender, age, income, education, region and settlement type; (2) item-level financial knowledge test results benchmarked against comparison countries and the OECD/INFE sample; (3) financial inclusion, product usage and financial well-being indicators; (4) self-reported planned sources of retirement income. All four tables cover the 2018 and/or 2021 survey waves as available. The dataset supports research on demographic and socio-economic gaps in adult financial literacy in Ukraine, and provides a pre-reform baseline for comparison against later adolescent financial-literacy data collected after the mandatory school subject "Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy" was introduced in 2025. METHODOLOGY & SOURCES All figures are digitized directly from tables in the source report below and are not estimated or interpolated. Measured using the OECD/INFE questionnaire, administered by personal interview (CAPI) to a nationally representative sample of adults aged 18-79 (n=2040, margin of error +/-2.2%), fieldwork August 2021 (2018 figures are from the preceding wave of the same study, reported in the same publication). Known data-quality issues are flagged rather than silently corrected: one attitude-score cell reproduces an apparent typographical error in the source table (see 00_Dictionary), and two knowledge-item comparison cells are marked NA where the source does not report a figure.
