In this study, we investigated immune cell cluster alterations linked to diabetic corneal diseases using mass cytometry by time of flight (CyTOF). A panel of 41 immune-related markers was used in CyTOF to track changes in the type and quantity of corneal immune cells in the hyperglycemic condition. Comprehensive immunological profiling revealed significant immune cell changes in corneas of diabetic (db/db) mice, including a significant reduction in CD103+CD8+ tissue-resident memory T (TRM) cells and Tregs and a significant increase in γδT cells, a subset of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs).
