The data in this document contain the experimental results of our study about the sorption of divalent nickel by saponite. Sorption isotherms, EXAFS characterizations, Quantitative Texture Analysis and Atomic Force Microscopy were used to quantify the sorption and to determine the sorption mechanism. The data were interpreted according to the 2SPNE SC/CE model and they were compared with literature information about another smectite, montmorillonite.
