Description

The dataset includes daily in-situ produced biogenic methanesulfonic acid and sulfate concentrations at sea level over the North Atlantic from 01/01/1998 to 31/12/2022, which was generated based on Gaussian process regression (GPR) machine learning algorithm by combining in-situ observations of sulfur aerosol data at Mace Head research station, west coast of Ireland, and from NAAMES cruises in the NW Atlantic, combined with the constructed sea-to-air dimethylsulfide flux (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.scitotenv.2023.162123) and ECMWF-ERA5 (https://doi.org/10.24381/cds.adbb2d47) reanalysis datasets. This dataset is discussed in a manuscript titled "IPB-MSA&SO4: a daily 0.25° resolution dataset of In-situ Produced Biogenic Methanesulfonic Acid and Sulfate over the North Atlantic during 1998–2022 based on machine learning" by Mansour et al. (2023), which is currently under review in the "Earth System Science Data (ESSD)" Journal.
