Description

DORES is designed to simulate energy systems for both individual buildings and large-scale communities with diverse building typologies. It supports various energy sources, including Building-Applied Photovoltaics (BAPV), Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), and Energy Storage Systems (ESS), while considering electricity load profiles at the building or community level. For cases where hourly electricity consumption data is unavailable, the tool offers pre-existing normalized load profiles for various building types, including residential, industrial, kindergarten, and public lighting. Key features of the application: - ESS Sizing: Optimizes battery storage for peak-shaving or the design of standalone off-grid systems. - Control Strategies: Offers various control approaches, enabling users to analyze and compare energy flows and operational behaviors of buildings and communities. - Performance Evaluation: Assesses system operation through key performance indicators (KPIs) such as self-consumption, self-sufficiency, and electricity cost savings, providing valuable insights into energy efficiency. - Economic and Environmental Analysis: Includes economic KPIs such as Net Present Value (NPV) and Life Cycle Costs (LCCs) based on CAPEX and OPEX, along with environmental metrics such as CO2 emissions savings.
