Raw and processed data supporting the findings of: "Microplastic Pollution in Santong Bay Mangrove Ecotourism Area, Sumbawa Island: Spatial Patterns and Ecological Risk Along a Human Disturbance Gradient". Dataset includes: raw microplastic abundance per replicate, physicochemical parameters, morphological composition, color distribution, Spearman correlation, PCA loadings, RDA results, and Pollution Load Index calculations across nine sampling stations.

Steps to reproduce

1. Field sampling was conducted during low tide conditions from July to August 2025 at Santong Bay Mangrove Nature Tourism Park, Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. 2. Surface sediment samples (0-5 cm depth) were collected at 27 replicate points across nine stations using a stainless-steel core sampler (diameter: 7 cm; height: 5 cm). 3. Microplastic extraction was performed using density separation with a Sediment-Microplastic Isolation (SMI) unit and saturated NaCl solution (density: ~1.2 g/cm3), followed by vacuum filtration through a 0.45 um glass fiber filter. 4. Microplastic particles were identified and classified morphologically using a WSDCAM WS1600 digital microscope (magnification up to 1600x). 5. Physicochemical parameters (sediment pH, sediment salinity, water pH, water temperature, water salinity) were measured in situ at each station using calibrated portable instruments. 6. Statistical analyses were performed using R version 4.5.1, including Kruskal-Wallis test, Fisher's Exact Test, Spearman correlation, PCA, and RDA (vegan package). 7. Ecological risk was assessed using the Pollution Load Index (PLI = geometric mean of contamination factors).
