Petrography, U-Pb and 40Ar/39Ar geochronology of volcanic samples from the Saturno Well, Santos Basin, South Atlantic

A Data Support Document submitted to Mendeley to fully report all the petrologic and geochronological data and interpretations that substantiates the petrological and geochronological results presented in the manuscript titled “Rifting, volcanic activity, basin geomorphology and paleoclimate: their impact on the Evolution of the pre-salt Giant, Santos Basin” submitted by Crémière et al. to Earth Sciences Reviews. This submission contains several parts: a Sample Selection and Analytical Techniques part that outlines all the steps from sample selection, through sample preparation and analyses by three different methods: LA-ICPMS carbonate geochronology, LA-MC-ICPMS zircon geochronology, and laser-heating 40Ar/39Ar feldspar geochronology; detailed discussion of petrographic observations and geochronological results for each sample separately; a summary discussion of all combined results.
