How AI-generated news earns public legitimacy
Description
This dataset supports the study examining how individuals' moral foundations shape their evaluations of AI-generated news and institutional trust in public service media (PSM). The data includes responses from a nationwide survey of 1,000 adult participants collected via Macromill Embrain, covering key variables such as moral foundations (individualizing and binding), perceived public value, perceived accessibility, perceived risk, and institutional trust regarding AI news.

Data Preparation: The cleaned survey dataset (collected from 1,000 respondents via Macromill Embrain) was imported into SmartPLS 4.Measurement Model Evaluation: Assess indicator reliability, internal consistency reliability (Cronbach's alpha, composite reliability), and convergent/discriminant validity (e.g., AVE, HTMT criteria) using the PLS algorithm in SmartPLS 4.Structural Model Evaluation: Run the bootstrapping procedure (with 5,000 subsamples) in SmartPLS 4 to test path coefficients, significance levels, and coefficient of determination ($R^2$) values for the hypothesized structural relationships among moral foundations, perceived public value, perceived accessibility, perceived risk, and institutional trust.
