This study evaluated the association of PGR, ESR1, and ESR2 polymorphisms and haplotypes with FBC susceptibility. PGR emerged as the principal hormone receptor gene associated with FBC susceptibility, with an additional contribution from ESR2, whereas ESR1 variants showed no independent single-marker association.

Genotyping was performed using TaqMan allelic discrimination assays (Applied Biosystems; Piscataway, NJ) with VIC- and FAM-labeled probes in 6-μL reaction volumes on StepOne Plus and QuantStudio 6/7 real-time PCR systems, according to the manufacturer’s specifications (Applied Biosystems). The major homozygous genotype was designated the reference genotype.
