Dataset for Controlled Breaching and Evacuation Lead-Time Assessment in Dongping Lake Flood Detention Area
Description
This dataset supports the manuscript entitled “Scenario-Based Assessment of Controlled Breaching and Evacuation Lead Time in a Flood Detention Area: A Case Study of Dongping Lake, China”. The dataset contains the processed data used to generate the main figures and to support the hydrodynamic analysis in the manuscript. It includes the computational mesh topology without elevation information, the stage–discharge relationships used for lake outflow boundary conditions, the design flood hydrographs at Daicun Dam, model calibration and validation water-level data, and Old Lake water-level time series under different non-breach and controlled-breach scenarios. The computational mesh is provided only as node coordinates and element connectivity. Elevation, bathymetry, depth, DEM, and Z values are not included because the terrain data were provided by the Yellow River Conservancy Commission and are subject to administrative and data-management restrictions. The files in this dataset are organized as follows: 1. Computational_mesh_xy_only This folder contains the computational mesh topology used in the two-dimensional hydrodynamic model. It includes node X–Y coordinates and triangular element connectivity. Elevation and bathymetry values are not included. 2. Data_for_Fig6_Lake_Outflow_Stage_Discharge_Relationships.xlsx This file contains the stage–discharge relationships used for the lake outflow boundary conditions under different Yellow River discharge conditions at Sunkou Station. 3. Data_for_Fig7_Design_Flood_Hydrographs_Daicun_Dam.xlsx This file contains the 5-, 20-, and 50-year design flood hydrographs at Daicun Dam used as inflow boundary conditions. 4. Data_for_Figs_9_and_10_Model_Calibration_and_Validation.xlsx This file contains the observed and simulated water-level data used for model calibration and validation in Figs. 9 and 10. 5. Data_for_Figs_11_to_16_Old_Lake_Water_Level_Process.xlsx This file contains the Old Lake water-level time series used to generate Figs. 11–16, including non-breach scenarios, controlled-breach scenarios, and breach/non-breach comparisons under different design flood conditions. Some original hydrological, operational, and terrain data used in the study are not publicly available due to administrative and data-management restrictions. The processed data provided here are intended to support transparency and reproducibility of the main analyses presented in the manuscript.
Files
Steps to reproduce
The files provide processed data used to reproduce the main figures and summary analyses in the manuscript. The stage–discharge relationship file can be used to reproduce Fig. 6. The design flood hydrograph file can be used to reproduce Fig. 7. The calibration and validation file can be used to reproduce Figs. 9 and 10. The Old Lake water-level process file can be used to reproduce Figs. 11–16 and the associated water-level timing analyses. The computational mesh folder provides node X–Y coordinates and triangular element connectivity only; elevation, bathymetry, DEM, and Z values are not included due to data-management restrictions.
