This dataset provides peat water retention, which was collected from Riau peatland, Indonesia. The data was collected from different land-uses situated in degraded peatland in 2019 and 2022. Information of water retention is of importance for eco-hydrological modeling of peat water. Water retention will determine the contribution of water table to rewetting the surface layer during dry season.

Steps to reproduce
We collected peat samples from the field in triplicate for topsoil (10-30 cm) and subsoil (50-70 cm) using 105 cm3 ring sample. The samples then were analyzed in laboratory to obtain water content at different suction namely: saturation, field capacity, and wilting point.
