This article presents a bibliometric-systematic literature review of sustainable low-pressure turboexpanders (LPTEs) for industrial waste heat and pressure-energy recovery during 2016–2025. The study integrates PRISMA-based screening, RStudio/Bibliometrix analysis, VOSviewer science mapping, and systematic engineering synthesis to examine research trends, technological applications, collaboration patterns, and emerging themes. Particular attention is given to pressure-exergy recovery, technology readiness, and the role of AI and computational methods in LPTE development. The findings highlight the growing importance of LPTEs as complementary technologies to conventional waste heat recovery systems and identify key research gaps in field validation, life-cycle assessment, techno-economic evaluation, and sustainability-oriented intelligent control.
