Leadership Styles and Teacher Performance
Description
Leadership plays an important role in shaping teachers’ professional performance and their capacity to contribute to innovation, creativity, and collaborative activities within educational institutions. This study examines the influence of servant, autocratic, and democratic leadership styles on teacher performance, innovation and creativity, and collaborative performance, while investigating the mediating role of teacher performance. A quantitative cross-sectional research design was adopted, and primary data were collected from 309 teachers in Gujarat, India, using a structured questionnaire. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, Pearson correlation, multicollinearity diagnostics, multiple regression, heteroscedasticity-robust estimation, and bootstrap mediation analysis. The findings indicate that leadership styles significantly influence teacher performance, innovation and creativity, and collaborative performance. Teacher performance also significantly contributes to innovation and creativity and collaborative performance. Furthermore, the mediation analysis demonstrates that teacher performance significantly transmits the influence of leadership styles to both innovation and creativity and collaborative performance. The study highlights the importance of effective leadership and teacher performance in developing innovative and collaborative educational environments.
