Data Extraction Dataset for a Scoping Review on Alzheimer’s Disease Biomarkers
Description
This dataset contains the structured data extracted from 63 studies included in a scoping review on biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease. It includes bibliographic and study characteristics, biological matrices, analytical methods, investigated biomarkers, study objectives, clinical or diagnostic outcomes, and coded variables used in the descriptive synthesis. Additional worksheets provide biomarker/sample matrices, outcome classifications, reference details, and supporting screening information. A README worksheet describes the dataset structure and coding conventions. The dataset was prepared to support transparency, reproducibility, and verification of the review findings.

Steps to reproduce
The dataset was generated by extracting data from the studies included in the scoping review using a predefined data extraction framework. For each included study, bibliographic information, study characteristics, biological matrix, analytical method, investigated biomarkers, study objectives, and relevant clinical or diagnostic outcomes were recorded. Categorical variables were subsequently coded and organized into thematic worksheets for descriptive synthesis. The review protocol, including the eligibility criteria, search strategy, screening process, and data extraction procedures, is publicly available on the Open Science Framework (OSF): https://osf.io/mnk8h. Researchers wishing to reproduce the dataset should follow the registered protocol and apply the same extraction and coding procedures described in the README worksheet.
