Energy distribution models with AMI smart meter sensor dataset
Description
Presented is an anonymized processed dataset, representative of a medium-, and low-voltage energy distribution network, in the vicinity of Porsgrunn, Norway, with supplementary sensor data. The energy distribution network data has been obtained from the regional Distributed System Operator (DSO) network owner in an exported Common Grid Model Exchange Specification (CGMES) unstructured data format. The former unstructured data has been post-processed into a structured data format, readily accessible for power analysis using software such as PandaPower. The network models of interest represent both medium- and low-voltage network radials which distribute energy to approximately 6,809 energy end consumers, respectively. Energy consumption and production of these respective energy end consumers have been measured by locally installed Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which on an hourly resolution, communicate measured load profiles of both active and reactive power to the DSO. For the historical period of 2022-01-01 to 2024-09-30, AMI meter data have been collected and supplemented with regional energy spot price, and weather data. The presented data set is highly reusable in the context of load forecast scenario planning and flexible energy management analysis with the specific focus on low-voltage distribution energy network operation. The comprehensive nature of the dataset will facilitate multi-disciplinary investigations in support of the green energy transition. The interested reader is referred to the accompanying article which gives a comprehensive overview on the supplied data and usage.
