PriceLens: A Panel of Online Electronics Prices from Bangladeshi Retailers, 2026
Description
PriceLens is a panel of 1,274,246 price observations for 26,658 consumer-electronics products listed by four Bangladeshi online retailers (Star Tech, Techland, Apple Gadgets and Computer Village), recorded between 25 March and 28 September 2026. Prices were collected by an automated scraper that rebuilt its queue of product pages every 12 hours; the median time between two observations of the same product is 53 hours. Each observation includes the price in Bangladeshi taka and poisha, a UTC timestamp, and quality flags for price changes, carried-forward prices, outliers and implausible values. No rows have been removed; 1,205,045 observations are clean (not flagged). The product table gives each product's name, URL and retailer. A text-history table records name changes and SHA-256 hashes of product descriptions. The descriptions themselves are not included because they are the retailers' copyrighted text. Three retailers have sustained price tracking: Star Tech, Techland (until 16 July 2026) and Apple Gadgets. Computer Village has observed prices only until 3 April 2026, and its later rows are flagged as carried forward. Seven retailers were scraped. Three were excluded, along with some Computer Village products, to comply with the retailers' terms of use and robots.txt. Known limitations, including survivorship bias, coverage gaps and their causes, are documented in README.md, which also contains the data dictionary. DATASHEET.md describes collection, preprocessing and suitable uses. MANIFEST.sha256 lets you verify the files.

Steps to reproduce
Data were collected with the PriceLens scraper (https://github.com/TerminalWarlord/PriceLens). Raw exports were cleaned and flagged, and the release was built with the scripts described in README.md under "How to rebuild". The raw database exports are not part of this release.
