Description

This dataset comprises results obtained using two approaches for estimating the Transversal Lyapunov Exponent (TLE) in discontinuous dynamical systems: the two-probe method and a proposed approach based on estimating the Jacobian matrix along the oscillator trajectory, slightly modified for application to stick-slip oscillators. The data were generated for parameter sets corresponding to isolated stick-slip oscillators exhibiting either periodic or chaotic behavior. In all simulations, the oscillators were assumed to be arranged in spring-coupled networks. ===Folder structure=== =stick_slip_chaotic_data= This folder contains: Results obtained using the two-oscillator probe method. TLE results obtained using the proposed method. A Python script for generating bifurcation plots from both the TLE and two-oscillator probe results. The data correspond to a parameter set for which the isolated stick-slip oscillator exhibits chaotic dynamics. Coupling coefficient range: σ ∈ [0.0, 6.0] =stick_slip_periodic_data= This folder contains: Results obtained using the two-oscillator probe method. TLE results obtained using the proposed method. A Python script for generating bifurcation plots from both the TLE and two-oscillator probe results. The data correspond to a parameter set for which the isolated stick-slip oscillator exhibits periodic dynamics. Coupling coefficient range: σ ∈ [0.0, 6.0] The results obtained using both the two-oscillator probe method and the TLE-based approach are provided in compressed .zip archives and must be extracted before generating the plots. =TLE= This folder contains Python scripts compatible with both Windows and Linux that allow TLE calculations for user-defined parameter sets. The isolated oscillator parameters and initial conditions can be specified in: stick_slip_combo_TLE_close_to_stick_log_to_file.py The coupling-strength range can be configured in: stick-slip_impact_osc_TLE_combo_parralel_mgr.py To start the calculations, run: stick-slip_impact_osc_TLE_combo_parralel_mgr.py =two-probe= This folder contains Python scripts compatible with both Windows and Linux that perform the two-oscillator probe analysis for user-defined isolated oscillator parameters. The oscillator parameters and initial conditions can be specified in: stick_slip_2_osc_probe_silent.py The coupling-strength range can be configured in: stick_slip_2probe_parallel_mgr.py To start the calculations, run: stick_slip_2probe_parallel_mgr.py The two-oscillator probe method returns the last 200 local maxima of the displacement difference between the oscillators when the oscillators do not synchronize. If synchronization is achieved, no output is produced. =System equations and parameter values= The governing equations of the stick-slip oscillator and a description of all model parameters are provided in the accompanying PDF document.
