Description

In C. albicans, Sec61 is an essential component of the protein translocation channel that supports filamentous development and pathogenic fitness. Partial reduction of SEC61 function impaired hyphal growth under nitrogen limitation, increased susceptibility to cell wall stress, and attenuated virulence in G. mellonella without affecting vegetative growth. These findings reveal an important role for Sec61-mediated protein translocation in fungal morphogenesis and infection-associated adaptation.
