Data of the major planktic foraminifera percentage abundance from Site U1426 are generated for the period covering ~1400 to 600 ka are available in the sheet ‘U1426PF’. The clay mineral data of Site U1426 for the period covering ~1400 to 600 ka are available in the sheet ‘U1426 clay’. The clay mineral data of Site U1423 for the period covering ~1200 to 620 ka are available in the sheet ‘U1423 clay’.

Steps to reproduce
1. Homogenized split-fractions of the coarse fractions (>125μm) were analysed under stereo-zoom microscopes for picking of ~300 specimens of planktic foraminifera. 2. The glycolated samples were analysed in Bruker D8 ADVANCE X-Ray diffractometer at IIT Bhubaneswar. The glycolated clay smear slides were scanned for 2θ value range from 3° to 40°. The individual clay minerals in the diffractograms were identified (fig S1) and their relative abundance was ascertained in Match!3 software using the 'Reference Intensity Ratio' method followed by Rietveld refining (Putz and Brandenburg, 2022).
