Description

This dataset supports a study of how layered acoustic drivers shape soundscape perception in transport hubs. Thirty-six 30-second single-channel excerpts were drawn by stratified sampling (six functional types, two excerpts per relative sound-pressure band) from a 676-recording campaign covering 34 transport hubs in China and Singapore (2013-2017), recorded with a calibrated BSWA 801 sound level meter feeding a digital recorder. In a semi-anechoic listening experiment (Shenyang Jianzhu University, 2025), 59 valid participants rated every excerpt on the eight ISO/TS 12913-2 perceptual dimensions over Sennheiser HD650 headphones at a single common playback gain and identified up to three dominant sound sources, yielding 2,116 valid observations; ISOPleasantness and ISOEventfulness coordinates were computed with Soundscapy v0.8.2. The workbook holds the observation-level ratings, the participant roster with validity status, the 36-recording table with 24 ArtemiS acoustic indicators spanning energy, psychoacoustic and temporal-fluctuation layers, one-second indicator time series, sound-source pick counts and shares with a three-class aggregation, and full variable and code dictionaries in English and Chinese. All records are de-identified and carry anonymous subject numbers only. Ethics approval 2025SJZU-A020 (Shenyang Jianzhu University); written informed consent was obtained from all participants. The analysis code that reproduces every figure and table of the associated article from this workbook is released separately under the MIT Licence.
