Replication Package for: In-Store Digital Payments and Unsolicited Money Requests: Exposure and Transfer Responses
Description
Replication package for the paper "In-Store Digital Payments and Unsolicited Money Requests: Exposure and Transfer Responses". This package contains all code, documentation, expected outputs, and verification files needed to fully reproduce the analysis using the publicly available World Bank Global Findex Database 2025 (WLD_2024_FINDEX_v02_M). Contents include: - Complete Python analysis and verification scripts - Environment and package version files - Variable dictionary and measurement documentation - Expected aggregate results and checksum files for verification - README with detailed instructions for data acquisition and reproduction No original or processed individual-level microdata are included, in accordance with the World Bank data use terms. Users must download the original microdata directly from the World Bank. The analysis examines the associations between in-store digital payment participation and (1) exposure to unsolicited money requests and (2) transfer responses to the most recent request, using survey-weighted linear probability models with country fixed effects.

Users must accept the World Bank data use terms. 2. Place the downloaded data file in the location specified in the README.md. 3. Create a Python environment using the provided environment.yml (or install the packages listed in docs/verified_python_packages.txt). 4. Run the data acquisition and preparation scripts in the code/ folder (acquire_data.py). 5. Execute the main analysis script (analysis.py) or the full pipeline via run_all.py. 6. Run verify_results.py to confirm that all generated outputs match the expected results provided in the expected/ folder. Detailed instructions, variable definitions, and troubleshooting notes are available in README.md and the docs/ folder.
