Description

This data is from a cross-sectional survey on attitudes towards animals, food, and technology run by the Sentience Institute (https://www.sentienceinstitute.org/). Each sample was recruited in partnership with Ipsos (https://www.ipsos.com/) based on census estimates from the American Community Survey (https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs). The survey has been repeated, with minor changes, in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2025. Note that zip codes have been removed from the dataset to ensure participant anonymity. The survey and analysis code associated with this dataset can be found at the following OSF link: https://osf.io/a4qjg/ Data from 7,165 participants across the six survey waves is available in aft_data1725.csv, and aft_codebook.xlsx contains basic descriptions of each variable. More information on the AFT survey is available on our website (https://www.sentienceinstitute.org/aft-survey). Please reach out to jacy@sentienceinstitute.org with any questions or comments.
