This data contains informations of 68 small farmers in Northern Mato Grosso that produce soybean. Gathered between 2016 and 2017. Our research hypothesis was that small farmers are joining monoculture markets (soybean) and being economically efficient, but not sustainable in the long-term. We run a DEA model to verify the efficiency between farmers and a logit model to check some variables that interfere with efficiency. Our results showed some mechanisms that contribute to economic performance of small farmers, but soybean is dependent of economies of scale, limiting the entrace of new small farmers, mainly "small small farmers".
