Description
Immediate Effect Of Trunk Kinesio Taping On Balance And Mobility Among Patients With Acute Stroke: A Case Series Gurudayal1, Dr. Adarsh Kumar Srivastav* 1Department of physiotherapy, School of Health Sciences, CSJM university Kanpur *Assistant professor, School of Health Sciences, CSJM university Kanpur(adarshkumarsrivastava@csjmu.ac.in) Abstract Introduction-Stroke also known as Cerebrovascular accidents(CVA) is defined as impaired supply of blood to the brian which causes motor deficits. Truncal weakness is considered one of the main reasons for deficits in mobility and balance. Kinesio taping(KT) is the novel method for re education of truncal weakness among patients with acute stroke. Aim- of this study was to identify the immediate effect of trunk kinesio taping on balance and mobility among patients with acute stroke. Materials and Method- A quasi experimental study containing 11 participants with acute stroke conducted at School of Health Sciences, CSJM university Kanpur during january february 2025. Balance and mobility was assessed using berg balance scale(BBS) and 10 metre walk test(10MWT). KT was applied to trunk muscle like erector spinae, transversus abdominis and rectus abdominis using muscle correction(Inhibition Technique). Data was analyzed using SPSS software. Results-Data was checked for normality using Shapiro-Wilk test and the data was normally distributed. Paired t test revealed significant difference on balance(t= -7.144, p vlaue <0.001). and mobility(t=9.913, p value <0.001) and 10MWT gait speed (z=-3-516, p value < 0.001)among patients with acute stroke Conclusion-immediate trunk kinesio taping produces significant effect on balance and mobility among patients with acute stroke. Studies with large sample size and follow up period is needed to further establish its clinical effectiveness. Keywords-Kinesio Taping, Balance, Mobility, Stroke
