Evaluating Folic Acid use and knowledge among pregnant women: A Cross-Sectional study in the Calabria Region
Description
The dataset was used in a cross-sectional study that aimed to assess FA use among pregnant women in the Calabria region, determine whether their intake met United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommendations, and explore potential predictors that shape these practices. The study was carried between April and September 2023 among pregnant women using face-to-face interviews. The questionnaire took approximately 15 minutes to complete and consisted of 22 questions grouped into 3 sections. The first section gathered participants' sociodemographic and obstetric history characteristics. The second section investigated general knowledge re-garding FA supplementation and its importance during pregnancy; moreover, it also explored the self-perceived need to receive additional information about FA intake. The final section examined the actual behaviors toward recommended FA intake. The data were analyzed using STATA software, version 19.0.
