Description

This data was obtained through text extraction, including the production start time and location of the Power battery manufacturing base, and the source of the retrieval was provided. In addition, this dataset also includes the production output of the Power battery manufacturing base, as well as the carbon emission factor of the power grid in the corresponding province. The carbon emission factor can be used to distinguish the type of power source in the province.

The battery production base database was constructed through cross-validation across four channels. First, the Tianyancha corporate registry database was used to verify the business registration information of battery manufacturers' subsidiaries and project companies—including registered location, date of establishment, and business scope—with the host city of each corporate entity determining the base's city assignment. Second, government public records were consulted, including commissioning announcements on provincial and municipal government websites, industry bulletins issued by Development and Reform Commissions and Bureaus of Economy and Information Technology, and environmental impact assessment approvals issued by Ecology and Environment Bureaus. Third, first-hand corporate disclosures were collected, including annual reports of listed companies, prospectuses, ESG reports, and base profiles on official corporate websites. Fourth, on-site coverage of commissioning ceremonies by authoritative media outlets—including Xinhua News Agency, Caixin, The Paper, and Gaogong Lithium Battery (GG-LB)—was incorporated. Data accuracy is safeguarded by five mechanisms: (1) Multi-source cross-validation—the commissioning date of each base must be corroborated by at least two independent sources, with single-source information downgraded accordingly; (2) Evidence grading and conflict arbitration—all records are assigned A/B/C evidence grades (government sources and first-hand corporate disclosures as A, authoritative media as B, and industry news outlets as C), and in cases of conflicting sources, government announcements take precedence over media reports and corporate publicity; (3) Three-way status distinction—signing, construction start, and commissioning are strictly distinguished as separate event types, and only "commissioning" (including the commissioning of a first production line) is counted as the treatment onset, thereby preventing the treatment timing from being artificially advanced by substituting signing dates for actual commissioning; (4) Segment screening—cell manufacturing bases are distinguished from supporting segments such as PACK assembly and cathode/anode material production, with only cell bases counting toward a city's designation as a battery city; and (5) Review mechanism—after the initial round of collection, a full-scale re-verification was launched in response to identified omissions, and consistency between the master table and detailed records was re-examined during the aggregation stage. The data were cleaned according to rules that merge county-level cities into their governing prefecture-level cities, standardize company names, and deduplicate multiple records for the same company in the same city (prioritizing commissioning over construction start, records with precise months over less precise ones, and higher-grade evidence over lower-grade), ensuring that every record is source-backed, traceable, and reproducible.
