Title of Dataset: Face Culture and Prosocial Value Conflict: A Developmental Investigation of Children’s White Lie Decisions Between Emotional Comfort and Long-Term Goals Study Overview This dataset contains behavioral data from two experimental studies investigating the development of prosocial "white lie" decision-making in children aged 3 to 11 years. The primary aim was to examine children's sensitivity to different social contexts and types of interpersonal expectations when telling white lies, thereby revealing the underlying prosocial motivations and value orientations guiding this behavior. Methods and Sample Study 1: Included 393 children aged 3-11 years. Study 2: Included 236 children aged 6-11 years.
